Supplies you’ll need to recreate my Autumn Sign:
- Autumn Wood Sign Kit
- Antebellum Blue Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Endless Shore Silk All-In-One Paint
- Paint Brush
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel Stain
- Spray Bottle
- Sharpie
- Starbond Medium Instant Adhesive
- Makeup Sponges
To begin, grab the sign kit I’m using HERE. The kits come with everything you need to create unique décor for your home or to sell at vendor events.
For the base of the sign, I used the color Antebellum Blue. Since this was a larger surface, I used a paint brush to apply the color.
Next, I used the color Endless Shore and a makeup sponge to paint the word blocks and the cutout that says “Autumn”.
When painting with a makeup sponge, make sure to offload excess paint before applying it to the surface.
This technique is best when applied in multiple thin layers using a pouncing motion.
Pro Tip: Use a black sharpie to clean up edges. It’s much easier than paint and creates a more finished look.
Now, use Tobacco Road Gel Stain to add color to the leaves.
I used a spray bottle of water to wash out the color of the stain a bit.
Once everything is dry, use your favorite adhesive to glue all of the pieces together.
The base of the sign has etched spots for all of the pieces to line up with. This make assembly super easy.
And here’s the finished product! This is a great beginner project and can be totally customized to fit any décor style.
