Supplies you’ll need to make your own burlap bag fall decoration:
- Burlap Bag or Burlap Fabric Pieces
- Mason Jar
- Fall Florals
- Small Patches
- Autumn Tiered Tray Chalk Couture Transfer
- Rust Chalkology Paste
- Artist Tool Set
- Cricut Easy Press
- Buttons, Raffia and other embellishments
I started by gathering everything I would need for the project including a mason jar that would fit into the burlap bag I had on hand. If you don’t have a burlap bag, you could make one using some pieces of burlap fabric and a glue gun. Simply cut the burlap to size and glue down the edges to create a bag. Just be sure that you size the bag so that your jar will fit inside. Making your own bag will also eliminate the bottom seam so that your jar sits flat.
Next, I cut the portion of the transfer I was going to use from the full sheet of Autumn Tiered Tray Transfers.
Then I placed the transfer onto the center of the patch and covered the portion I wasn’t going to be using with a piece of painter’s tape.
Once everything was in place, I was ready to add Chalkology Paste.
I used a paste called Rust and a small chalking tool to add the details.
This is what the patch looked like once it was finished. Let this dry.
Next, remove the backing from the patch and place it on the burlap bag.
Once the patch is where you would like it, use a Cricut Easy Press to apply it. I had mine set to 300 degrees for 30 seconds. You can also use an iron for this step. You can find full instructions with the patches.
Now that the patch is in place, insert the mason jar into the bag.
And then add your fall florals. I tightened and tied the string at the top of the bag to give it a more finished look.
It’s cute, but it needs something….
Let’s add some embellishments!
To give the décor a little something extra, I first added a bow using some raffia.
Then, I glued a cute little wooden button to the center of the bow.
So simple, but also so cute!!
Now that’s an adorable burlap bag décor idea for fall!
