Supplies you’ll need to make your own no-sew burlap heart pillow:
- Square Pillow Cover
- Burlap
- Surebonder Fabric Hot Glue Sticks
- Cricut EasyPress 2
- Cricut EasyPress Protective Mat
To begin, you’ll want to iron the wrinkles out of the pillow cover. I did this with my Cricut EasyPress. You can also use an iron or steamer for this step, but I highly recommend a Cricut EasyPress if you plan on doing crafts with fabric. It’s super convenient and one of my favorite tools.
Next, I cut random-sized hearts out of the burlap material. (I used a burlap bag I had in my fabric drawer) Notice I used an odd number of hearts to make the layout of the design pleasing to the eye.
Once I had my hearts cut, I laid them out how I wanted them and then took a pic to reference back to.
When placing embellishments on a pillow, I try to stay pretty close to the center of the pillow because once it is stuffed it eliminates some of the visual space around the edges.
Once you have your plan for placement set, it’s time to glue everything in place using a fabric adhesive like Surebonder.
I used an old glue gun for my fabric glue and will now strictly use it for this purpose.
Also note, I used a scrap piece of cardboard between the pillow layers as to not glue it to itself.
What an easy project!
The nice thing about this pillow is it can be used all year if you so choose.
Have fun recreating this look using other fabrics and shapes for all seasons and holidays!
