Restoration Hardware has nothing on this look-alike DIY Entry Table. Use this tutorial and repurposed items to make your own.

The DIY entry table featured in today’s post was created a few years back.  It was inspired by a Restoration Hardware table that I loved, but was way out of my budget.  Let me show you how we built this look-alike for way less!

My late father-in-law had a huge white oak tree cut on his property, and as you can see, it made the prettiest 2 inch thick wood slabs. They were dirty and needed to be planed down smooth. For this project, we used two pieces of that wood – one for top and one for bottom.

Then, I found these huge wooden candle sticks at Hobby Lobby for the legs.  They were a little bit too tall, so Mr. Rustic cut them down to size.

Here’s a look at the unfinished piece.  It’s so fun to repurpose items to make something new!  Especially when it gives the same look as other high-end pieces, but for a fraction of the price.

Here’s the piece we cut off of the large candlesticks. I still use these “scraps” today for a riser and love the way they look!  So, I ended up using the entire candlestick, just in two different applications.

I don’t have a picture of me painting, but I used a black chalk paint similar to Caviar by Dixie Belle.  I didn’t paint full coverage, as I wanted some of the wood to come through. Then, I used brown wax to seal and complement the raw/bare wood. I also painted the candle sticks to match. This table is heavy, but it’s perfect for an entry or would be a great sofa table too.
