Supplies you’ll need to make your own DIY Sunflower Décor:
- Wood Blocks
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel
- Kudzu Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Bright White Chalkology Paste
- Etched Sunflower Transfer
- Chip Brush
- Small Squeegee
To begin, I applied a layer of Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to the entire surface and sides of the wood block using a cloth rag.
When applying gel stain with a rag, be sure to apply an even layer, removing any excess product as you go.
Next, I used a chip brush to apply the color Kudzu to the center portion of the block. When doing this, I was sure to avoid the edges. I also added less paint as I moved toward the edges of the block. I wanted it to have a very undone look.
Once dry, I sanded the edges of the block to finalize the rustic look.
Next up – adding the sunflower detail!
As this point I applied the Etched Sunflower transfer to the block. When placing the transfer, I intentionally made sure to image was off center.
Next, I applied a layer of Bright White Chalkology Paste to the transfer using a small squeegee.
Once I was finished adding the paste, I removed the transfer to reveal the finished look.
Here you can see how I applied the transfer off-center to create a little more interest in the finished piece.
And here it it styled with my other décor. This transfer is so much fun and can be used to create décor for many season and occasions.
How will you use the Etched Sunflower transfer?
