Everything you’ll need to make your own DIY Wall Décor:
- Moroccan Wall Art Cutout
- Anchor All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Makeup Sponges
- Silver or Gold Gilding Wax
- Clamps
- Clothes Pins
- Wood Glue
To begin, paint all of the pieces of the wall art using the color Anchor.
I like to paint this type of wood cutout using a makeup sponge.
When using a makeup sponge to paint, you’ll want to load the sponge and then pounce the paint onto the surface
Let the first coat dry and apply a second coat.
Once the paint is dry, lightly sand to create a distressed look.
I also distressed the edges of the frame slightly, as seen below.
Now it’s time to glue everything together. I decided to use Titebond wood glue for this to give me a little more working time to make sure the frame was lined up just right.
I just spread the glue with my finger so I didn’t get a lot of oozing of glue out the sides.
Set all the pieces in place and hold for a few minutes. Then clamp and wipe any excess glue before it dries.
As you can see, I just used clothes pin to clamp mine. It’s what was handy and they worked perfectly.
At this point, I debated using my gilding wax on the spots where my finger is pointing in the picture below and I still may.
Remember to make this project your own! Use the colors that best fit your décor and create a one of a kind piece.
You can also add a wreath and change it out with the seasons or leave it as is! Maybe even try three in a row to create a nice vignette.
