This project starts with a raw wood church cutout from Twin Knobs Woodworks. You can find it and lots of other Easter and Spring cutouts HERE!
To begin, paint the entire surface with Whitecap All-In-One Mineral Paint.
Be sure to also paint the sides of the cutout.
Once your cutout is painted, set it aside to dry.
Once dry, use watered down Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to add distressed details.
I first added details to the edge of the piece.
Then, I used my sponge brush to add some details to the surface.
Before the watered-down Voodoo Gel dried, I used a cloth to rub the stain into the piece to create an aged look.
Next, use the same process as above on the sides of the cutout.
Once the stain you applied is dry, the piece is done. This is a simple way to dress-up the cutout so that it can be used all year long.
Now, let’s dress up the Church Cutout with Chalk Couture!
For this project, I used the “He Is Risen” Transfer and Black Velvet Chalkology Paste.
To start, place your transfer on the surface of the cutout.
Then, add a thin even layer of Chalkology Paste to the entire transfer.
Be sure to scrape away any excess paste and then remove the transfer to reveal the finished look.
As you can see, this simple Wooden Church Cutout can be dressed up with just a bit of paint or made to fit any season with a Chalk Couture Transfer. Either way, it’s a great Spring Farmhouse Décor DIY that anyone can do!
