We’ve all seen tags used for holiday decor, but today I’m going to show you how to make your own DIY Wooden Valentine’s Day Tag. This is a simple tutorial that you can use to make tags for all upcoming seasons. It’s super simple and super cute!

What you’ll need to make your own Valentine’s Day Tag:
- Wood Heart – I used the small heart from the Small Hearts 3 piece set sold by Twin Knobs Woodworks.
- Wood Beads
- Candy Apple Chalkology Paste
- Heart Patterns Transfer
- Small Squeegee
- Crop-A-Dile
- Twine
- Galvanized Shopping Basket
To create my Valentine’s Day Tag, I first used the Heart Patterns Transfer from Chalk Couture to add the “XO” pattern to my wood heart.
If you’ve never used Chalk Couture before, it’s so simple! Just apply a thin layer of Candy Apply Chalkology Paste to the entire surface using a small squeegee. Be sure to evenly cover the silk screen transfer and wipe back any excess paste. You’ll want to work quickly and remove the transfer right after your paste has been applied.
Once your heart is dry, it’s time to add a hole for hanging.
I used a tool called a Crop-A-Dile to make the hole.
To add a hole using the Crop-A-Dile, simply place the tool over the area where you would like the hole and squeeze.
Now you have a hole for your twine.
Once you’ve added your twine, add a few wood beads to dress it up a bit.
I used a raw wood bead and a wood bead painted red to coordinate with my project.
Now that your tag is complete, you can add it to your decor. I added mine to the floral arrangement below and it gave the piece a nice Valentine’s Day feel. The best part about adding something simple, like a small tag, is that you can change it out as the seasons change. This helps you make the most of the decor you already have while still being festive!
