How to paint the Fall Cutting Board
All of the pieces used for this tutorial are a part of the Seasonal Cutting Board Kit from Twin Knobs Woodworks. Get yours HERE!
For the Fall Cutting Board pieces we will be using the colors Whitecap, Muscadine Wine, Terracotta, Colonel Mustard and Kudzu. All colors are from Dixie Belle Chalk Paint.
First, paint the base of the Fall cutout with the color Whitecap.
Next, use a makeup sponge to paint the greenery portion of each cutout with the color Kudzu.
Then use the color Colonel Mustard to paint the outer fall leaf and Terracotta to paint the inner fall leaf.
Next, use Muscadine Wine and a makeup sponge to paint the words and the single leaf cutout.
Once everything is dry, use a chip brush and dry brushing method to add a bit of the color Whitecap to the greenery portion.
You can see below how I added very little of the white paint in a sporadic manner.
Next, use Tobacco Road Gel Stain and the same drybrush method to add this color over the top of the white you just added.
Then wipe the excess gel stain off of the surface.
Once everything is dry, it’s time to assemble.
Here’s the finished product!
How to paint the Winter Cutting Board
For the Winter Cutting Board, begin by painting the base with the color Whitecap.
Use a makeup sponge and the color Bunker Hill Blue to paint the “Welcome Winter” cutout.
Next, use Savannah Mist to paint the snowflakes.
Then, mix a bit of Yankee Blue into the Dusty Blue to deepen the color just a bit.
Use the custom color mix to paint the leaves.
Once it’s all dry, you’re ready to assemble.
As pictured below, I just flipped the top greenery piece on the board and used the stained side for the winter design.
