Let me show you how to up-level flameless candles with this simple farmhouse candle idea. You’ll use this trick for every season!
Today I have a super quick project to add a pop of color to the battery operated candles we all love! This idea came to me when my greenery candle ring didn’t work with my candlesticks. My candles were just missing something, so I grabbed some ribbon, twine, greenery sprig and my hot glue gun. Let me show you what I did and how it turned out.

Supplies you’ll need to make your own farmhouse candles:
Let’s start with a look at the plain candles. As I mentioned above, they were missing something. Don’t you agree? Let me show you how I fixed that.
Start by gathering the embellishments you are going to use. You can see I grabbed some buffalo plaid ribbon, twine and a greenery sprig.
To add the embellishments, first wrap the candle with the largest item you are going to use. For me, it was the ribbon.
Once you have your ribbon measured out and placed on the candle where you’d like it, secure the ribbon with hot glue.
Next, grab your smaller embellishment item and wrap it over the top of the piece that’s already in place. For me, this was the twine. I wrapped the twine around the candle and then twisted/unraveled the ends of the twine to add an extra bit of texture.
Finally, add a sprig of greenery to the candle by slipping it under the twine to hold it in place. If you want to be able to swap the greenery out for other seasons, don’t use any glue to hold it in place.
This is the final look! So much better than the plain candles we started with.
This same look can be used for other holidays too! Simply remove the sprig of greenery and add a pop color the works for whatever holiday or season you are celebrating. For example, grab something red and you’re all ready for Valentine’s Day.
