Pumpkin Door Hanger Idea No. 1:
This project starts with a pumpkin cutout and decorative layover piece from Twin Knobs Woodworks. You can get all of your Fall wood project cutouts from Twin Knobs Woodworks by shopping HERE.
Start by painting the entire surface of the pumpkin cutout with the color Terracotta. I used a Premium 2″ Chip Brush for this step.
While the base layer of Terracotta is still wet, use the color Buttercream to add dimension to the surface.
Using a foam brush, add oval shaped outlines to where the pumpkin would have natural dimension.
You can see below how I added the Buttercream color in oval shaped motions to mimic what a real pumpkin would look like.
While the pumpkin surface is drying, paint the decorative overlay piece.
I used the same Buttercream color and applied with a makeup brush.
Next, use the color Kudzu to paint the stem.
Once the overlay piece is dry, use Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to add an antique finish to the edges of the piece. I used a foam brush for this step.
Once everything is dry, you can glue the overlay piece to the center of the pumpkin.
Finish off the door hanger with a piece of twine for hanging.
This one is perfect for a door or on your wall!
Pumpkin Door Hanger Idea No. 2:
For the second pumpkin door hanger idea, I simply used the painting technique that I used on the surface of the pumpkin on the overlay piece too.
I also added a bit of the Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to add even more dimension to the surface of the pumpkin.
Fell free to add a bow to your door hanger, as I did to mine shown below.
