Here’s a quick list of the supplies I used for this DIY project:
- Ornament Minis from Chalk Couture or any other Blank Ornaments you like!
- Classic Ornaments Transfer by Chalk Couture
- Candy Apply Chalkology Paste
- Bright White Chalkology Paste
- Black Velvet Chalkology Paste
- Rainforest Chalkology Paste
- Small Squeegee
- Transfer Trimmers
- Ribbon & Greenery for embellishments
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue
To begin this project, I gathered my supplies including a set of Ornament Minis from Chalk Couture. Feel free to grab whatever style ornaments you like at your local craft store. This technique will work on almost any surface!
The transfer I used is called “Classic Ornaments” and includes all of the elements you need to make your own set of unique Christmas Ornaments.
Before you begin, go ahead and cut your transfer along the lines to get each individual element ready for use.
Now it’s time to decide how you will use the transfer elements to decorate each ornament. I ended up using four Chalology Paste colors to create four unique ornaments.
For this simple ornament design, Candy Apple Chalkology Paste was applied to the entire transfer using the small squeegee. When applying your paste, smooth on a thin even layer and then wipe off any excess. It’s important to work quickly and to remove your transfer immediately after you are finished applying the paste.
Here I used my Black Velvet Chalkology Paste to begin layering the design for my next ornament. To layer your designs, simply work in steps allowing each layer of paste to dry before moving onto the next step.
Next, I layered the word “JOY” over the black oval.
Finally, I used my Rainforest Green and Candy Apply paste to finish off the ornament with a decorative border.
As you can see, there are so many unique possibilities when using just one transfer and a few colors!
The Ornament Minis come with jute for hanging, but I had to change things up! For a cute finishing touch, I added bows made from ribbon, greenery and a piece of string for hanging. I attached all of my elements with a hot glue gun.
