Supplies you’ll need for this simple Chalk Couture DIY:
- Mini Decorative Gable Brackets
- Anchor Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Salt Water Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel Stain
- Dixie Belle OS Paint Brush
- “Love Lives Here” Transfer from Chalk Couture
- House Cutouts (2 Pack) from Chalk Couture
- Small Squeegee
- Bright White Chalkology Paste
- Black Velvet Chalkology Paste
For this project, you will start with a 2 Pack of the House Cutouts from Chalk Couture and THIS set of Mini Decorative Gable Bracket Embellishments from Twin Knobs Woodworks.
Begin by painting one of the House Cutouts with Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint in the color Anchor.
While the first House Cutout dries, paint the decorative gable bracket that will go on it with the color Salt Water.
I like to use a makeup sponge to paint on this type of smaller detailed wood cutout.
Next, stain the other decorative gable that will go on the white House Cutout.
I used Tobacco Road Gel Stain and the same makeup sponge application for this part of the project.
Now it’s time to add the Chalk Couture!
Begin by gluing the decorative gables to the top of the House Cutouts.
The white one will be placed on the black House Cutout.
The stained one will be place on the white House Cutout.
NOTE: This cutout did not require any additional paint because the House Cutouts arrive pre-painted. But remember, these are also totally paintable! Feel free to paint them whatever color matches your project best.
Now, add the “Bless This” portion and the smaller “Home” portion of the “Love Lives Here” Transfer on the black House Cutout using White Chalkology Paste. Yep – I mixed and matched two transfers to make this one fit!
Then add the “This Is My Happy Place” portion of the “Love Lives Here” Transfer using Black Chalkology Paste.
If you’ve never used Chalk Couture before, here’s a quick rundown on how it works:
- Place the transfer on your surface.
- Using a squeegee, add a thin even layer of Chalkology Paste.
- Wipe back any excess paste.
- Remove the transfer before the paste dries.
Here are the finished looks! You can see that each one offers it’s own unique look and style!
Both of these ideas are great décor staples you can use all year long.
