Supplies you’ll need to create your own mini corbels:
- Unfinished Cora Corbel – Mini Corbel
- Fluff Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Caviar Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Peony Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Dixie Bell Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel
- Paint Brush Set
The mini corbels that I used for this project came unfinished and ready to paint, but may require some light sanding. They measure 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ and are cut from solid pine.
I’m going to show you how I used different painting techniques to create four different looks. First, I wanted to show you a distressed look using Tobacco Road Voodoo Get and Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the color Fluff.
To begin, add the Voodoo Gel to the cutout portions of the corbel.
Then, use a clean cloth to apply the gel across the cutout areas. You can adjust the coverage achieved based on your personal style.
Then, I dry brushed the remainder of the corbel using the Dixie Belle Paint in the color Fluff. As you can see below, this technique gave me a set of distressed corbels that would compliment a farmhouse or vintage style home.
How to use paint to create mini corbels that fit your home decor style:
As you can see here, you can use paint to create corbels that fit your everyday or seasonal home decor style. The corbel pictured below was first painted with a base color of Fluff and then accented with the color Peony.
This is a corbel that was simply painted with the color Fluff.
Finally, this corbel was painted with fluff and given some accents with the color Caviar.
As you can see, you can paint or embellish the mini corbel for your tiered tray in a number of different ways. Be sure to grab your own set of mini corbels HERE and share them with me on social media. You can find me on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest!
