Supplies you’ll need when creating your Ornament Door Hanger:
- Air Mail Christmas Door Hanger Kit
- Anchor All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Honky Tonk Red Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Whitecap All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Baja Gray All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Gemstone Mousse Diamond by Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Super Glue Adhesive
- Paint Brush
- Makeup Sponges
Start by gathering your supplies including this Ornament Door Hanger Kit from Twin Knobs Woodworks.
First, use Anchor All-One-Mineral Paint and a makeup sponge to paint all of the letters that come with the kit. Leaving the letters in the ring will make them easier to paint and will help line them up when you assemble the kit later.
Next, use the color Honky Tonk Red to paint the ornament top and the round center piece of the door hanger.
I used a makeup sponge for the top and to apply paint around the edges of the center piece. I then finished off the rest of the center piece with a paint brush.
Now it’s time to paint the ornament base.
I used the color Whitecap and a medium sized paint brush for this step.
Now for the fun accent pieces!
Use a makeup sponge and the color Baja Gray to paint the reindeer and the snowflakes. Let these pieces dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Once dry, use a clean cloth to add Diamond Gemstone Mousse to the reindeer and snowflakes.
When applying a product like Gemstone Mouse, you’ll want to dab a bit onto the surface and then rub it in while removing the excess.
I love the bit of metallic the Gemstone Mousse adds!
Now it’s time to assemble!
Make sure you line up all of your pieces and then use an appropriate adhesive to assemble the door hanger.
Oh my!! This is such a fun piece. Great as home décor, as lovely handmade gifts or to sell at craft fairs.
