Chalk Couture Rise and Grind Transfer Idea #1
Supplies you’ll need to recreate this look:
- Tall Coffee Mug Unfinished Wood Surface
- Dixie Belle Tobacco Road Voodoo Get
- The Gulf Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Chalk Couture Rise and Grind Transfer
- Bark Chalkology Paste
- Small Squeegee
- Transfer Trimmers
- Paint Brush
I used a Tall Coffee Mug unfinished wood cutout that measures 6” tall, 5 1/2” wide & 3/4” thick for this project. You can get it HERE.
To begin, apply a layer of Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to the entire surface. Let dry.
Next, dry brush a layer of Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the color The Gulf onto the surface as shown below. Let dry.
Now, cut the “Rise and Grind” portion of the transfer off of the sheet.
Apply the transfer to the surface and add a layer of Bark Chalkology Paste. Make sure you cover the entire transfer and wipe back any excess paste.
Finally, you are ready to remove the transfer to reveal the final look. Isn’t it so cute?!
Chalk Couture Rise and Grind Transfer Idea #2
Supplies you’ll need to recreate this look:
- Unfinished Blank Wood Sign Surface
- Scalloped Wood Trim
- Burlap Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Fluff Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Chalk Couture Rise and Grind Transfer
- Bright White Chalkology Paste
- Black Velvet Chalkology Paste
- Titebond
- Small Squeegee
- Paint Brush Set
I used a rectangle shaped wood sign blank that measures 5 1/2” wide, 7” long & 3/4” thick for this sign. You can find the exact one HERE. These sign blanks are sold in 4 packs and are great to have around for all sorts of sign making projects!
The scalloped wood trim was found at Hobby Lobby near the doll house wood pieces. Feel free to add whatever type of trim you like.
To begin, use the Burlap Dixie Belle Chalk Paint to add a base coat to the wood sign surface.
You can personalize this portion of the project by choosing a different base color or by adjusting the coverage you achieve with the paint. Always feel free to make it your own!
Next, use the Fluff Dixie Belle Chalk Paint to paint the scalloped wood trim pieces. You’ll want to have these pieces cut to fit your surface before you begin painting them.
Now use the end of a small paint brush to add the dot details to the scalloped edge pieces.
Once your base surface and the scalloped wood trim is dry, use Titebond to adhere the trim to the base.
Now it’s time to add the Rise and Grind Transfer! Here are some basic instructions for adding Chalk Couture Transfers to mose surfaces:
- Place the transfer where you would like it on your surface.
- Apply a coat of Chalkology Paste to the areas you are chalking. For this example, I used Bright White for the letters and Black Velvet for the accents.
- Work in sections when chalking and don’t let the paste dry before removing the transfer.
- Be sure to wipe back any excess paste and put it back into your jar for future use.
- Finally, remove the transfer to reveal your finished project.
These two examples of how to use the Rise and Grind Transfer are a great jumping off point for those who want to create unique decor with Chalk Couture. Feel free to experiment with different surfaces, colors and embellishments when creating. All of those elements are what make your projects your own!!
