Supplies you’ll need to make your own Santa Door Hanger:
- 16 inch Large Wooden Round
- Santa Cutout
- Believe Cutout
- Chalk Couture Santa Approved Transfer
- Candy Apple Chalkology Paste
- Meadow Chalkology Paste
- Black Velvet Chalkology Paste
- Shimmer Gold Chalkology Paste
- Caviar Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Fluff Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Evergreen Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Barn Red Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Chalk Couture Cheerful Christmas Tree Pattern Transfer
- Paint Brush
- Angled Squeegee
- Small Squeegee
- Gorilla Super Glue
- Bow
First, I painted and added details to the Santa cutout.
To begin, I painted entire Santa face with the color Fluff from Dixie Belle.
This will probably only take one coat, but feel free to do two if needed.
Once the Santa cutout is dry, you can add the Chalk Couture accents.
Apply the “Santa Approved” Transfer to the Santa cutout so that it lines up with where his features should be.
Then add Candy Apple Chalk Paint to the berries and brim of his hat.
Next, use Green Chalkology Paste for the leaves and Black Velvet Chalkology Paste to accent the remainder of his features.
Be sure to work quickly so that you can get the transfer peeled away before the paste dries.
Once the paste was dry, I added a bit of Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel to give it that vintage Christmas look!
Now, let’s paint the round base of the door hanger!
Start by taping off your sections and painting the bottom portion with Evergreen Chalk Paint.
Then, paint the top portion with the color Barn Red.
Remove the tape and let dry.
Once the paint is dry, add the “Cheerful Christmas Tree” Pattern!
Begin by applying the transfer to the surface and taping it off again like you did above.
Then, use Shimmer Gold Chalkology Paste to add the transfer accents to the green portion of the surface.
On the green portion, I added the entire pattern to the surface.
Then, I added some stars to the red portion of the surface.
Finally, paint the wooden “Believe” cutout!
First, apply one layer of the chalk paint color Caviar to the cutout. Then go over the Caviar with a layer of the color Fluff. Dab it on with a makeup sponge so that it doesn’t get fully covered.
Then put a bit of Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel on a chip brush and dry brush it over the surface of the cutout.
This will give this portion of the sign that vintage Christmas vibe just as was done above for the Santa face.
Finally, rub the Voodoo Gel into the surface with a dry cloth.
Now it’s time to assemble your project with super glue.
I also added a festive bow to my finished product. Feel free use your door hanger with or without a bow. Either way this is a fun way to add some vintage Christmas to your home this year!!
