The door hanger I’m using is from Twin Knobs Woodworks. It comes with all the pieces you need to make the door hanger. All you need to do is add paint!
I started by painting the entire round base white using a chip brush.
Add as many coats as it takes to get the coverage you want and let dry.
Next, I grabbed a bunch of my favorite Spring colors and got to painting all of the pieces.
First, I used this pretty green called Kudzu.
Next up was Daisy!
You can see that I’m using a makeup sponge to paint.
This technique makes painting tinier surfaces a bit easier.
Simply dip the sponge into the paint, remove any excess and then dab it onto the surface. Keep dabbing in sections until the color is how you like it. The key is to do lots of thin layers.
Here you can see I mixed a bit of Pure Ocean and Fluff to create a custom color.
And here I did the same with colors Amethyst and Fluff.
These colors are just perfect for my Spring front porch! Feel free to change up the colors you use to coordinate with your décor.
Finally, I used the color Caviar to paint the “welcome” portion of the project.
This is what all of the flowers look like when they are finished and everything is assembled.
Before gluing the pieces on the round base, it’s best to do a dry run to make sure they line up the way you want it.
Twin Knobs Woodworks is currently only offering this door hanger with the plain base, but I had them make the one below so I could try it out. If there’s enough interest, they may add it as an option for purchase.
Now it’s time to glue everything together.
I used a Medium Instant Adhesive for this part of the project.
Things didn’t line up perfectly, but it still looks good once it’s all in place. Just be sure to get it as close as you can.
Here’s mine hung on the front door! I really like the faux shiplap look and Springtime colors!
