You’re going to start your project with the “Forever Grateful” Kit from Twin Knobs Woodworks. This kit comes with all of the pieces you need to make your own sign! Twin Knobs also offers other kits and sign blanks that are perfect for the hobby DIYer or for those who sell signs as part of a business. You can get a closer look at everything Twin Knobs has to offer HERE.
First, paint the base of the sign with the color Fluff from Dixie Belle Chalk Paint.
While that dries, move onto staining the frame. To stain the frame, I used Tobacco Road Gel Stain from Dixie Belle.
Use a damp cloth to apply the stain and wipe it back with the same rag. Then, you can wipe more back with the clean damp end to get a nice light stain color.
You can see the difference in color below. The top example is full strength gel stain and the bottom example is after wiping back a second time with a damp cloth.
Now that the base and frame are ready, it’s time to paint the 3D details.
Begin by applying the color Kudzu to the leaf cutout using a makeup sponge.
Then, paint the words “forever” and “grateful” with the color Caviar.
Once all of your pieces are dry, secure them in place using Gorilla Super Glue.
Finally, add a layer of Clear Coat Satin to seal everything in place.
Here’s our finished product!
This one is perfect for Thanksgiving, but could also be used with your everyday decor.
