Supplies you’ll need to make your own set of “Try That In A Small Town” Ornaments:
- “Try That In A Small Town” Ornaments
- Rustic Red Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Caviar Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Cotton Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Cobalt Blue Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel Stain
- Clear Sealer Spray Paint
- Stick Fast Adhesive
This project begins with two blank wooden ornaments from Twin Knobs Woodworks. These kits are super easy to craft with because all you need to do is add paint and glue!
For both ornaments I used the paint colors Rustic Red, Caviar, Cotton, Cobalt Blue and Tobacco Road.
Because of all of the small pieces, I used a makeup sponge for all of the painting.
When using a makeup sponge to paint, load the sponge and then pounce several thin layers of paint onto the surface.
Here’s a quick look at what colors I used for each piece of the barn ornament:
- Square Flag with Cobalt Blue
- Flag Stripes with Rustic Red
- Barn Pieces with Caviar
Once all of the pieces were dry, I used Stick Fast Adhesive to assemble the ornement.
I used the same process for the round ornament.
Here’s a quick look at what colors I used for each piece of the round ornament:
- Eagle Background and “Small Town” with Cobalt Blue
- American Eagle with Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel
- Rifles with Caviar
- Stripes and Outer Circle with Rustic Red
- Stars with Cotton
Finally, once all of the pieces were painted and dry, I used the same Stick Fast Adhesive to assemble.
I also add some twine and embellishments to finish mine off.
What a festive and patriotic way to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. These would make great gifts!
Twin Knobs Woodworks also offers a larger Door Hanger version of the barn. You can grab it HERE!
