Supplies you’ll need to make a Welcome Door Hanger for Spring:
- Large Wood Round
- “Welcome” Wood Cutout
- Manatee Gray Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Whitecap Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint
- OS Dixie Belle Paint Brush
- Makeup Sponges
- Sand Paper
- Farm Charm Collection – Farmhouse Tile Chalk Couture Transfer
- Black Velvet Chalkology Paste
- Small Squeegee
- Ribbon
- Greenery or Florals
- Black Jute Twine
For this project, I started by painting the round sign base with the color Whitecap.
When painting the wood round, I made sure to paint the edges also because they will be visible when the piece is hung.
Let the first coat dry and then lightly sand.
Once you’ve cleaned up any sanding dust, add a second layer of paint to the wood round.
Let the wood round dry completely before moving on to adding the stencil pattern.
For the stenciled part of the sign, I used a Chalk Couture Transfer and Chalkology Paste in the color Black Velvet.
Chalk Couture Transfers make crafting super easy! Simply place the reusable transfer on the surface, add a thin layer of Chalkology Paste and remove.
This is one of my favorite ways of adding lots of details super fast.
Now that the stenciled portion is done, let dry.
Here’s a peek at what the creation process looks like for the “Welcome” cutout.
Super fun, right?!?
For the “Welcome” cutout, I used the color Manatee Gray and makeup sponge for application.
When painting with a sponge, load the sponge with paint and pounce it onto the surface of what you are painting.
Once dry, glue the “Welcome” cutout to your door hanger. I placed mine just above the stenciled detail.
Now let’s add some embellishments!
First, grab some greenery or other florals to dress up the door hanger. You can see that I cut pieces from a larger bundle of greenery in order to create the look I wanted.
Next, make a bow using coordination ribbon.
Finally finish off assembling your door hanger and add some twine for hanging.
This simple color scheme is the perfect way to dress up your front door for Springtime. But if you want something more vibrant, change up the colors and customize it to your liking.
