Supplies you’ll need to make your own Winter Door Hanger:
- “Welcome Winter” Door Hanger Blank – COMING SOON to Twin Knobs Woodworks!
- Anchor All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Salt Water All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel Stain
- Spray Bottle
- Makeup Sponges
- Paint Brush
- Starbond Medium Instant Adhesive
This project begins with a pre-cut wood door hanger sign from Twin Knobs Woodworks. The kit I used for today’s project is COMING SOON to the Twin Knobs Woodworks shop.
First, I used Tobacoo Road Voodoo Gel to add a layer of color to the base of the door hanger.
You can see how I added a bit of product and then used my spray bottle to water it down. This step will keep the stain color light.
Rub the watered down stain into the wood adding more water to adjust the color to your liking.
Next, grab a paint brush and makeup sponge.
Use a makeup sponge to and the color Anchor to the word “welcome”.
Next, use the same color and a paint brush to paint the scarf portion of the door hanger.
Then, use the color Salt Water and a makeup sponge to paint the word “hello” and the snowflakes.
Once dry, use a dry brush technique and the color Salt Water to create a distressed finish on the word “winter.”
Finally, it’s time to assemble.
I used a medium instant adhesive to glue everything in place using the scored outlines on the door hanger base as my guide.
This piece can also be used to hang in your home!
But, it’s a real show stopper on your front door!
