Supplies you’ll need to create your winter shiplap sign:
- Wooden Shiplap Blank
- “Joy” Wood Cutout
- “Believe” Wood Cutout
- Fluff Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Caviar Dixie Belle Chalk Paint
- Paint Brush
- Makeup Sponges
- Eucalyptus Berry Wreath
- Ribbon
First, add a base coat of the color Fluff by Dixie Belle to the entire shiplap sign base.
Add as many coats as it takes to get the coverage you’d like.
Once your base coat is dry, it’s time to add the stripes.
I used a medium sized paint brush and the color Caviar to complete this step.
You can see that I skipped the middle stripe so I wouldn’t smudge it while I painted the next one. Let those first two dry, then add the middle stripe and let it dry.
**Note: Once I had completed this step, I realized that it would have been easier to use a flat surface and tape off the stripes for this project. The tape and peel technique creates the same look and will save time.**
While your stripes dry, paint the words you will be adding to your sign. You can see that I used a small roller for the word “Believe” and the color Fluff.
To paint the word “Joy” I used a makeup sponge. Both techniques get the job done. Just choose what works best for you.
Let the words dry.
Next, add a small nail to your sign to hang your wreath on.
Once I hung the wreath, I simply placed the words on the wreath making sure to tuck them in place so they won’t move.
You can also use a piece of wire to hold the words in place or you can glue them. I liked the idea of just placing them so I can change them out as I like.
Here’s a peek at the finished sign with both words in place.
The wreath used for this project is available in my shop now. Grab one for yourself HERE!! It’s berry versatile!
