Here’s the list of supplies you’ll need to make you own set of wooden spool ornaments:
- Wooden Spools
- Wooden Stars
- Ribbon – Seven Assorted Colors and Patterns OPTION 1 or OPTION 2
- Dixie Belle Moonshine Metallics in Gold Digger
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue Sticks
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Twine, Natural – 10” lengths
NOTE: You could easily make larger ornaments by working with larger spools and ribbon. Or, use fabric scraps instead of ribbon and add some texture with pinking shears like the ones found HERE.
To begin, gather all of your supplies. Attach ribbon pieces to wooden spool using glue gun and glue sticks. Each tree requires seven spools, six Christmas patterns and one brown pattern.
Paint wooden stars with metallic gold paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Assemble the spool tree by gluing together three spools to create the base. Add two spools on the second row and then one spool at the top in a pyramid shape. Attach the tree trunk spool at the bottom center.
To finish, knot a ten-inch section of twine into a loop and glue to top spool. Attach the star to the twine with glue gun and glue sticks.
Aren’t they perfect for a country Christmas style tree!?! You can literally create enough for your entire tree in thirty minutes.
