Supplies you’ll need to make a “Welcome-ish” Door Hanger:
- “Welcome-ish” Door Hanger Kit
- Anchor Silk All-In-One Paint
- Whitecap Silk All-In-One Paint
- Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel Stain
- Makeup Sponges
- Basket Weave Belles & Whistles Stencil
- Starbond Medium Instant Adhesive
- Clear Coat
For this door hanger, start by painting the portion that reads “(depends who you are)” with the color Whitecap.
Next, use the color Anchor to paint the portion that reads “Welcome-ish”.
PRO TIP: When painting with a makeup sponge, off-load your paint so that you have very little on your applicator sponge. It’s always better to do multiple coats rather than one heavy coat. This will keep the paint from dripping down the sides.
I decided to do something a little different with this door hanger by adding this NEW Belles and Whistles stencil for added texture.
Tape the stencil so that it covers the bottom portion of the round base and then use Tobacco Road Voodoo Gel and a makeup sponge to add the stencil detail.
I will also add a clear coat at the end to protect the piece.
After the stain is dry, I added painters tape and painted the top section with the color Whitecap.
This is what your door hanger base will look like once the top and bottom portions are finished.
Now it’s time to glue the word cutouts into place.
Add a small bead of instant adhesive to the back of the cutouts and set them in place.
This is what the piece will look like once everything has been glued in place. At this point you will want to add a clear coat to protect the surface from the elements.
Now it’s time to add a bow and hang!
